Гигантская белуга. На червя?

В Национальном музее РТ экспонируется чучело гигантской белуги, выловленной в водах Волги в начале XX века. Чудище длиной 4 м 17 см и весом в 1 т было поймано и на шести подводах перевезено в Санкт-Петербург специально для императорской кухни. Как и другие представители благородного семейства осетровых, из-за своей дороговизны белуга считалась в дореволюционной России "царской рыбой". Однако, прознав про уникальные параметры животного, Николай II повелел сделать из него чучело, чтобы увековечить его для потомков. После соответствующей обработки рыбина была выставлена в Эрмитаже. В 1902 году белуга была доставлена поездом в Казань в качестве личного подарка российского государя казанскому городскому музею (ныне Национальный музей РТ) в честь его пятилетия. Сразу же чучело-гигант заняло свое заслуженное место в экспозиционных залах и стало одной из визитных карточек зоологической коллекции. На чудо-рыбу приезжали смотреть со всей России. Почти целое столетие чучело экспонировалось не в специальной витрине, а в открытом виде. На него садилась пыль, многие поколения посетителей трогали его руками. После пожара 1987 года, когда музей сильно пострадал, рыбину убрали с экспозиции. Дело в том, что чучело подверглось неблагоприятному воздействию средств тушения огня – пены и воды. В результате его шкура "села" и во многих местах потрескалась. Еще позднее на ней образовалось несколько дыр. И вот теперь, благодаря стараниям специально прибывшего в Казань реставратора из Санкт-Петербурга Юрия Старикова, "рыба" обрела свой изначальный, внушающий уважение, а подчас и ужас вид.
